Inner Peace - Safer Communities “I’m sincerely benefiting from the practice. I feel more relaxed, less anxious, and more humble. I just feel at peace. People around me acknowledge the change too. It’s even bettering the relationship with my family. I’m finally happy!” - Larry, confined to prison in
“The book is liberating and empowering.” -
“Thank you. [The book] was really good. I brought it to a friend of mine who has the bad habit of making herself miserable all the time. She loved it too. She said that she had intellectualized the ideas before, but that they finally ‘clicked’ as she read.” - Beth, confined to prison in
“Well done Matthew! Your writing is lucid and direct, and full of genuine insight …. simple and small; a Fantastic achievement.” - Brent Scott,
"With each passing day I feel more at peace. I feel the desire to find ways to be useful to others, in spite of the chaos."
Mission
The mission of the True Freedom Foundation (TFF) is to create safer communities by sharing the art of true happiness and freedom with people - placing special emphasis on working with at-risk youth, inmates, and ex-felons - and by empowering those most at risk of being victimized.
Philosophy
Our guiding philosophy is that by helping people to be free from suffering, to realize true happiness and freedom, we can create substantial, lasting, positive change within our families, our communities, and even throughout the world.
A note from founder Matthew J. Tenney
I founded the TFF to help share the miracle of true happiness and freedom with people who are confined to prisons of all types. Whether we are confined to prisons that we create with our own minds or prisons constructed with concrete and barbed wire, true happiness and freedom are possible and much closer at hand than we may think. My deepest aspiration is to help others discover for themselves the miracle of true happiness and freedom.
I work, along with our other volunteers, to share the art of true happiness and freedom by offering public talks, by implementing several programs, and by distributing the book A Practical Guide to True Happiness and Freedom. The TFF provides this book free of charge to people in prison, and we offer it on a donation basis to the general public. (Please visit the Contact Us page to request a copy of the book.) In the book and in the programs we offer, we share the possibility of true happiness and freedom via the practice of what I call Intentional Living. Below are some of things people are saying about A Practical Guide to True Happiness and Freedom and the practice of Intentional Living.
